Ilmari Sysimetsä (November 23, 1912 Pori – September 26, 1955 Helsinki) was a Finnish advertising graphic artist.
Sysimetsä enrolled as a student at Pori Lyceum and graduated in 1937 as a drawing teacher from the School of Art and Design. From 1936 to 1941 he worked in the advertising agency of Erva-Latvala and as a freelance artist after the wars. From 1949, he owned his own screen printing plant. Sysimetsä was the secretary of the Association of Art Drawers from 1948 to 1953.
Sysimetsä designed the official poster for the Helsinki Olympics. Already for the 1940 Olympics, a competition poster design competition was held in 1938, which Sysimetsä won. When the decision on the new Games was made in 1947, only the order number and dates of the Games and the map of Finland were updated on the poster. (Translated Wikipedia-article)
